Hi. I’m Rachel Katherine Donzis. I just moved to New York from
Florida to stay with my Aunt Emily and I have a very good reason why. Let me
explain:
I am the daughter of THE Aidan and Evelyn Donzis, the owners of
Donzis Corp., a very influential technology corporation in Florida. My parents
are literally multi-millionaires. So,
you’re probably wondering, ‘Then why did you leave?!’ Well, it’s a little
complicated. As a kid, since I was like super
rich, tons of people tried to kidnap me. Till finally, my parents started
to get worried that one day, someone would KILL ME. So, they locked me up
inside our mansion and announced it to the public that I wasn’t coming out till
I got to the right age. At first, it was strange not ever going outside or
seeing my friends but with time, I got used to it. Until one day, the town was
having a really huge feast which was being held at our mansion but my parents
literally locked me in my room and
took the key just in case someone tried to kidnap me. I spent a whole FOUR
HOURS in there just playing games on my phone till my phone died and my cord
was in my mom’s room so I couldn’t even charge my phone! After that, I
concluded that I couldn’t stay cooped up in the mansion, so, I had a chat with
my parents and they agreed to let me go to New York and stay with my Aunt
Emily, my dad’s younger sister. It was a little tricky to sneak me out of the
mansion with my 9 bags without any one seeing me but it was no problem getting around the airport
without dragging attention because I was locked up in my mansion since I was 3
and I’m currently 12 and I haven’t posted a picture of myself since I was 5,
so, no one really knows how I look currently. Plus, I’ve really changed since I
was younger. When I was younger, I had dark wine red hair but as I got older,
my hair’s gotten a lot brighter, so has my skin. I’m like a whole new person.
Anyway, I’m thinking of going by Kathie Donzis, since no one knows my middle
name is Katherine ‘cause due to some issues, I wasn’t given a middle name till
I was 7. Meanwhile, there happen to be a lot of Donzises around here so no one
would think that I was THE Rachel Donzis.
So, when I got to my Aunt Emily’s, I noticed she was pretty much
as wacky as everyone else here. Almost everyone around here dyed their hair. My
aunt dyed hers a dark pink – Magenta, sort of but you could still see her
natural dark blue hair sticking out at some points. (And yes, her natural hair
is dark blue, crazy!) I found out that Aunt Emily had enrolled me in SunStar
Academy. I guess that’s not so bad. I’m actually starting there tomorrow, so, I
gotta stop writing in my memoire now. I think I’ll call it a memoire because
one day, someone will find it and read about all the adventures of Rachel
Katherine Donzis. Or maybe I’ll publish it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Today was a total COMBUCTANONDRON which means confusing, hectic
and messed up all at the same time.
It all started off as a normal day. I was heading to my art
class while listening to some of my top Katy
Perry songs like Swish Swish and
a bunch of others. Originally, I was into K-Pop, especially Rain but then New York introduced me to
pop. Anyway, I got into art class and the teacher Ms. Tilly announced that we
were going to be doing aerial perspective today and that we all had to make
pictures portraying an aerial perspective of anything of our choice. I’m really
into art (Though I prefer robotics) so, I sat down to think about what I was
going to paint when I noticed this guy n the other side of the room. He was
working on his painting and was like SUPER focused on it. Of course, he was
like all the other people around here – Weird with even weirder hair. His hair
was dyed a dark purple though I could still see his blonde streaks sticking
out. He wouldn’t look up from his artwork no matter what was happening around
him. Even if two girls were arguing right next to him, if the teacher was
snapping at someone for making a mess or even if someone tripped and knocked
over all their paintbrushes, he just wouldn’t look up. Then, before I knew it,
I had forgotten about my picture and was just staring at him to see if at some
point, he would look up – he never did. Suddenly, as I was still oogling at the
guy, one of the two girls who were arguing (Yes, all that stuff was actually
happening) jogged me and I tripped and knocked over my paint which splattered
all over me! I looked like a not-so-original Picasso! Some girl with braids in
her hair that were in all the colors of the rainbow came over and stood above
my head chewing her gum and blew a bubble with it and popped it. She took a
picture with her pink smart phone then said; “Here’s my picture, the aerial
perspective of Leonardo Dork Vinci” Everyone laughed and took pictures,
everyone except that guy on the other side of the room. He still hadn’t moved,
he was just there painting his picture. I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Is the
picture really that important?’ in my
head. Then the teacher started shooing all the kids away from me and helped me
up. She told me to go get a rag to clean myself up from the cafeteria. I left
and when I got to the cafeteria, I saw this girl working there. She looked my
age and looked like she went to this school. I didn’t want to ask ‘cause it
would sound rude, so I just asked for the rag. She gave it to me and I started
wiping my shirt ‘cause it was really smudged and it looked like the stain would
never get out which is sad seeing as that shirt was an original Calvin Klein,
which, BTW, is now my favorite brand. When I was done wiping, I returned the
rag and said thanks and that was when a conversation spurred up;
Cafeteria girl: Hmm!
Me: What?
Cafeteria girl: Nothing. It’s just no one ever says thanks to
me. They just toss the rag back at me and leave.
Me: Well, I have noticed that some of these people are a bit
weird. No offence.
Cafeteria girl: None taken. I’m not from here anyway. My parents
were born here but I’m actually Japanese. It’s just not that clear.
Me: Cool. I’m not from here either. I’m from Florida.
Cafeteria girl: Wow! That’s where THE Aidan and Evekyn Donzis
stay. Have you ever seen them?
Me: Nope. Just their limo.
Cafeteria girl: Well. I’m actually glad I’m not from here.
Me: Yeah. These guys are weird, mean and have a peculiar sense
of fashion, which is a nice way of saying last millennium.
Cafeteria girl: Right. Especially with that freak show they call
hair. It’s like a huge fashion…
Me and Cafeteria girl: …DON’T!
We both laughed at our little joke then she wrote her number in
a piece of paper which I’ll stick right in here.

At least I have one friend, sort of. Just then, the bell rang.
So, I gave her back the rag, waved goodbye and left. What a day!

Today has been a very self-revealing day. It all started at
lunch time.
I had come down to the cafeteria to get today’s special – Fairy
cakes. Yay! :-D As I was heading to grab my tray, that guy who doesn’t react to
anything, whose name I found out to be Chevy Payne jabbed me and I almost dropped my tray. I don’t know what came
over me but I completely lost it and this was how it went:
Me: Hey! You! Chevy or whatever you call yourself!
Chevy: (Turns and looks at me)
Me: Yeah! You! Don’t you have something to tell me?
Chevy: (Raises an eyebrow in confusion)
Me: Or did you NOT realize you just jabbed me and almost made me
drop my tray?
Chevy: (Still staring at me)
Me: Look, I don’t care if you don’t care to react to anything
around you like some…brainless zombie but you gotta learn some manners. Now,
what do you have to say?
Chevy: (Shrugs)
Me: Huh?
Chevy: (Mumbles) Sorry
Me: What was that?
Chevy: (Mumbles again) Sorry
Me: I still can’t hear you.
Chevy: SORRY! (Turns and leaves)

Wow! I have so many new friends which reminds me, we’re all
going shopping in a few minutes so I gotta go get ready. This is awesome, more
friends every day. Though, most of them have wacky hair like everyone else
here: Ella dyed her hair light green but she’s really a redhead, Beatrice just
has her natural black hair which is totally normal, Kyla has her natural blonde
hair so that’s normal too, Lizzy dyed her hair light green too ‘cause she’s best
friends with Ella but her natural hair is dark blue, Eleanora dyed her hair
light green too ‘cause she thinks it super cool but she’s actually a redhead
and Emily dyed her hair a dark pink but her natural hair is dark blue. Well, I
gotta go.
Wednesday,
September 20
Wow! Yesterday was awesome. I had a great time shopping with my
friends and Lizzy really knows style. Yesterday, she made me get a white
long-sleeved shirt with the inscription ‘New York City’ and the matching jeans
and cap ‘cause it was really cute and she was right, I totally love it. It
feels good being the center of attention but then, today, things got a little
complicated when my two worlds collided. Allow me to explain what I’m talking
about:
It was a normal day, it was lunch time. Today, I brought my own
lunch (which was just a can of root beer). As I popped open my can and took a
sip, Kyla stood up to go get a napkin from the cafeteria. The rest of us kept
talking about other stuff like fashion and boys and other classic teen stuff when
we heard a scream. Everyone in the cafeteria turned to the direction of the
scream and we beheld KYLA drenched in SODA! It was that girl that worked in the
cafeteria (whose name I just realized I don’t even know). She had tripped and
accidentally spilled her can of soda all over Kyla! Kyla was screaming and
panicking like the world was ending or something. We all walked over. While the
other girls were using some napkins to dry her off, I was holding her back and
telling her to calm down because she looked like she was gonna charge at that
cafeteria girl like a Red Bull! I just looked at the cafeteria girl and then
Beatrice was like, “You’re gonna get it now, cafeteria lady” expecting me to
yell at her or something but I didn’t want to. Now, the whole cafeteria was
staring at me expecting me to fire an insult at her. I didn’t know what to do
so, I just took a deep breath, looked around, then just said, “Let’s just go”
and left for my seat. At first, everyone was shocked but then they followed me
to their seats and everyone got over it. Phew! I don’t know what would have
happened if I had screamed at that girl. She would hate me for life and she was
the first person who was nice to me at this school. If this school is always
filled with so much drama, I’d be in for a long
semester. Well, I have nothing else to write so, I’m gonna go take a nap.
Wait! Hold on, I almost forgot to tell you something. When I had
sat back down after the whole incident, I saw Chevy staring at me with an
expressionless face. How weird! It didn’t look like he was mad or amused or
happy or sad or annoyed or confused or ANYTHING. Well, that’s all and I think
tomorrow, I’ll go to that cafeteria girl for two reasons.
1.
To apologize and sort things out and
2.
TO FINALLY FIND OUT HER NAME
Or maybe I’ll just call her. Yeah, I’ll do that. I’ll ring her
right now…I’m dialing the number…It’s ringing…She’s picking up…She said I
should come over to the cafeteria during recess so, we can talk. At least she
didn’t sound mad. Yay! :) Aunt Emily just came up here and said I should go to
bed ‘cause tomorrow’s school so, I gotta go now. Bye.
Thursday,
September 21
You WILL NOT believe what happened to me today. It all started
like this:
There I was, listening to some sweet Adele songs when Hannah Bensdorp gets all up in my face. I take off
my earphones and stare at her. Then she’s like:
Hannah: Who do you think you are?
Me: What?
Hannah: You’re stealing all my attention, Little Miss Florida
and I-don’t-like-it.
Me: How is this my problem?
Hannah: Everyone’s talking about you and we can’t have that, can
we?
Me: Look. I actually have a destination. So, if you don’t mind,
I’m leaving (I try to go around her)
Hannah: (Blocks the path so I can’t leave) That’s the problem, I
do mind. And your only destination is the janitor’s closet.
Me: Huh?
Hannah: (Pushes me into the janitor’s closet and locks it taking
the key) Bye bye, Florida.
Then, I heard a bunch of sounds. First, Hannah opening a door, then, something going Plop! Then, a toilet flush, then, Hannah laughing evilly and leaving. OMG! Hannah had just dropped the key to the janitor’s closet down the toilet AND FLUSHED! I was trapped with no escape and to make matters worse, I found out that I had run down the battery of my phone listening to music. I was in there for about 35 minutes and no one had come by. Not that I’d expect anyone to because Hannah locked me in here 5 minutes after class started and I’ve been in here for 30 minutes which is 35 minutes and classes here take up to an hour! So, no one was gonna come by here for another 25 minutes. Or at least that’s what I thought but then suddenly, I heard footsteps and voices. I was saved! I started banging on the door and the person came over and tried to open the door but couldn’t ‘cause it was locked, duh! But then, with a huge pow!, the door swung open and I had mixed emotions when I saw who had saved me. I was happy because it was that cafeteria girl but I was also a little moody ‘cause someone else was with her. That someone being…Chevy Payne. He was holding a hall pass and just staring at us as I hugged that girl since I was so happy. Then, I asked what they were even doing out of class and she said we all had to get to class but that we should all catch a seat together at lunch so we could talk. We agreed… or rather the girl and I agreed while Chevy just stood there. Then, we all ran off to class. As we got closer to my class, the girl and Chevy kept running cause their classes were up the hall, I then shouted, “Hey, what’s your name anyway?” but she just looked back at me and then looked away and just kept on running. How strange. I just went into class and in class, I could see that Hannah was so not happy to see me but I just said, “Chew on that, sucker!” in my head. I thought I was home free but then the teacher yelled, “Ms. Donzis, detention for being late” I was like, “But Hannah was late too” “Ms. Bensdorp was late because she was with the principal discussing important matters” “No, she wasn’t!” “Sit down, Ms. Donzis” I sat down and turned back to look at Hannah who was twirling her hair evilly and giving me an even more evil look with that grin that was the most evil of all. This school just keeps on giving the drama.

Today was weird. So, like, during
all my classes, Cafeteria Girl (Still don’t know her name) and Chevy were
unfortunately, and Hannah was fortunately not in any of them. So, I had to talk
to her (CG) and Chevy during lunch.
However, when I went to the
cafeteria, Cafeteria Girl served me the lunch for today which was spaghetti,
BTW. I asked her if she could sit with me today but she said she couldn’t
‘cause she had some extra work to do in the cafeteria today. She then said that
Chevy could sit with me. I mentally groaned but obliged since I sort of owed
her one from saving me yesterday. I’m still gonna get back at Hannah for that,
just to point out. As I went over to the table Chevy was at, Lizzy and the rest
of the girls came up to me probably so we could sit together. I calmly told
them that I couldn’t sit with them because I had some stuff to sort out with
Chevy Payne. Then, all the girls did this ‘Oooooh’ thing like I had a crush on
him or something. Please, as if I’d like Chevy. Anyways, after the girls
finally left to sit somewhere else, I went over to sit with Chevy. He was just
sitting there eating his spaghetti quietly. I came over and sat across him on
the other side of the table and said, “Hey”. He didn’t even look up, like, he
literally snubbed me. I decided to just let it slide and continued eating my
food peacefully. But the silence was too awkward. We had been sitting for about
5 minutes and I hadn’t heard a sound. Well, except the sound of high school
blabbering nonsense when they’re supposed to be eating. I had to break that
silence so I asked, “How come you and the Cafeteria Girl were in the hall
yesterday to save me?” He didn’t even look up at me. Now, I HATE disrespect so
I banged my hand on the table and said sternly, “Look at me when I’m talking to
you and answer me in the process” By this time, everyone in the cafeteria was
staring at us including my friends, Cafeteria Girl and even Hannah Bensdorp. He
looked up at me slowly and said, “Sorry” but it was really low so I couldn’t
hear him. I said, “What did you say?” with anger and annoyance lacing my voice
and written all over my face. He then did the weirdest and most annoying thing.
He smiled a little and asked, “Why are you so happy?” Like, was he really messing with me right
now? I was enraged and nearly lost it with him. I clenched my fists and my
knuckles literally turned white. I seriously though I was going to punch him
right there and then. I gritted through my teeth furiously, “What?! Are you
seriously messing with me right now? ” But at that, his smile dropped and he
quickly got up and rushed outside while everyone kept staring. The cafeteria
girl then left and went after him but I was so enraged that I just stayed in
that same position gnashing my teeth and clenching my fists. Beatrice, Emily,
Eleanora, Lizzy and Kyla immediately ran up to me and sat around me. They
started to calm me down by telling me to take deep breaths and fanning me with
a napkin. I eventually cooled off and thanked them. Then Lizzy said, “You’ve
been under a lot of stress lately, Kathie. I think you need a mall day.
Tomorrow, we all meet up at the mall by 9 o’ clock and we spend the rest of the
day shopping to clear our minds” Everyone agreed and then lunch was over though
I had only eaten half of my food. Well, Hakuna Matata, no matter. Yeah, I just
quoted Dan Bull.
I went to my next class which was
art class and I saw that Chevy wasn’t there. The teacher said that Chevy had
gone home early because he didn’t feel up to putting up with the rest of the
day. Like, seriously, dude, just for what I said. You need to learn how to
bounce back. The teacher was then pairing students together to be partners for
her class. After she was done pairing the rest of the class, she said that
Chevy and I are going to be partners but since he wasn’t here today I would
have to work alone. I couldn’t have been happier. I will get so much more work
done on my own than working with Chevy. Later, the teacher gave the pairs an
activity to draw up our favorite landmark in the world. I knew mine was the
Eiffel Tower and I drew it up easily. At the end, the teacher said my drawing
was the best and Hannah was enraged as she and her partner had drawn The Statue
of Liberty. I couldn’t help but snicker a little at the hissy fit Hannah threw
and I took that as a moment of revenge. I sneakily and slowly walked nearer to
Hannah and knocked the shelf a little then quickly got out of the way as all
the cans of paint on the shelf came pouring down on Hannah. She went ballistic
and the whole class laughed at her. She looked at me and I just gave her the
‘boohoo’ gesture. You know, that one where you give a fake sad face and pretend
you’re rubbing your eyes and crying. She just stormed out of there. I then gave
an evil smirk. Yeah, that’s right; your girl ain’t so innocent.
Anyway, after class was over, I
went to my locker and on my way there, I saw Cafeteria Girl still packing up
the stuff from her locker. I went over to her and this was the conversation;
Me: Hey. Was Chevy okay?
CG: Yeah, he was good but he
decided to head home.
Me: Honestly, what is his problem?
CG: You were pretty harsh on him.
Me: But he was being so annoying.
CG: Maybe, he can’t help it.
She said that part like she was
sure of it and I became suspicious.
Me: What do you know about Chevy?
CG: I don’t know anything.
Me: Are you sure?
CG: I’m sure.
Me: You’re lying.
CG: (Bangs her locker shut) Look,
just lay off it. (Walks away)
I wasn’t gonna lay off it but I let
her go and just went back to my locker. When I got there, Hannah was there
still with some paint on her.
Hannah: Well, well, looks like
you’re having friend problems, not so great at everything, are we Ms. Florida?
(Takes a picture of me with her phone) I’ll post that online at
#Whatyoulooklikewhenyourlifeisfallingapart
I didn’t even feel like dealing
with that then, so, I just slapped her phone out of her hand with a lot of
force and it fell and the screen broke. She picked it up with a socked
expression on her face and I just grabbed my stuff from my locker and slammed
the door and told her, “Suck that!” and left. As I got home, Aunt Emily ran up
to me and asked where I had been and that school ended 40 minutes ago. I
explained that art class got extended a little due to the Hannah incident and
then I got into a little argument with Cafeteria Girl. She understood and also
told me that I should start hanging out with the other girls more and give
Chevy and Cafeteria Girl a while to process their lives. I got the message and
hugged my Aunt Emily for always being there for me. She then told me to hurry
up and come have dinner. At dinner, we just talked about random stuff while we
enjoyed our meal. I love my aunt, she’s so understanding and wise.
Anywho, I gotta go, My Hero
Academia’s on and I gotta watch and after that, I gotta head straight to bed
since it’s already late. TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday)
Saturday,
September 23
Today was a total COMBUCTRANONDRON
and one of the craziest days of my life. And that’s coming from a girl who
spent most of her childhood running from kidnappers. So, here’s the story.
I was enjoying my beauty sleep
since Aunt Emily lets me sleep in on Saturdays when my phone started ringing. I
groaned and picked it up. I looked at the time. It was 9:30 am. I sluggishly
answered the phone. This was the conversation;
Me: (In a sleepy voice) Hello?
Lizzy: Kathie, where are you? You
were supposed to be here 30 minutes ago.
I then remembered I was supposed to
meet up with the girls at the mall today. It was like a cup of coffee because I
immediately lost every single wink of sleep in my eyes. I was coming up with an
excuse as to why I was late when she asked,
Lizzy: Is it traffic or something?
Why not?
Me: Yeah. It’s traffic but I should
be there in about 20 minutes.
Lizzy: Okay. See you then.
I immediately sprung off the bed. I
brushed my teeth in 1 minute, took a bath in 3, and then used 5 minutes to put
together the perfect outfit. My outfit was a baby blue crop top, dark purple
high-waist leggings with matching shoes, a silver jacket and a baby blue cap. I
put my hair up in 2 ponytails. I got all my outfits online after taking a look
at the catalogue, so, I’m going to be sticking in the pictures from the
catalogue so you know how my outfit looks from today onwards.
Okay, so, when I was done, I zoomed downstairs, grabbed an apple and zipped outside. However, when I got outside, I remembered that I could never get to the mall in 10 minutes on foot. But I didn’t have to; Aunt Emily was sitting in the car and did that cool thing they do in action movies. She looked at me and said, “Get in”. I hopped in and we got there in exactly 9 minutes. I then hugged her. Aunt Emily is really the best. Once I got down, I texted my friends that I had arrived. They texted back the floor they were on and I went inside and got on an elevator to the floor they were on. When I got there, they saw me and waved me over. I was walking over them when my eyes just happened to stray over to the right and I was surprised to see Chevy and Cafeteria Girl there. That was the section of the mall for people with special needs. What were they doing there? They seemed to be hiding so that no one would see them and it seemed no one had seen them except me. I just remembered Aunt Emily’s words to give them some space. So, I ignored them and went on to go shopping with my friends. We shopped for 2 hours and I bought like dozens of clothes (that Lizzy had picked out for me and some I picked out for myself), jewelry, make-up and even a brand new phone case since my old one had ‘R’ on it and people were starting to ask me what it meant. I couldn’t tell them it meant Rachel. So, I bought a new red one with a picture of Minnie Mouse on it. But get this; Emily bought herself an entire new phone and a super expensive one for that matter. She just bought it like it was nothing. These girls are so spoiled. I tried to keep my spending to a budget but I didn’t think any of them had limits except Lizzy. After the shopping, we all came out to wait for our parents to pick us up but then I saw Chevy and CG. They were still there? They were sneaking out carrying something in a bag. I wondered what they were doing so I kept looking at them but then Emily yelled at me, “Hey Kathie. Let’s get a selfie with my new phone” At that, Chevy and CG spotted me and started running. I know Aunt Emily told me to give them some space but enough’s enough with the secrets. I dropped all my bags and zipped after them easily avoiding knocking into anything since I spent my early childhood running from kidnappers a lot. However, I don’t think they were used to it because they knocked into a whole lot of stuff and got covered in tomatoes, flour and mustard. I used this opportunity to swerve to the side, jump over a cart of phone chargers and appear in front of them folding my arms and glaring at them. They skidded to a stop in front of me and fell over. I glared at them then ordered, “Explain”. The bag CG had been carrying fell as well and I saw there was some sort of doll in it. This ticked me off more. They hadn’t even answered when I barked out again, “Really? So, this is all about some stupid doll?” “You will never understand”, CG said as she and Chevy got up and she picked up the bag. “No. I don’t understand. And how can I when you won’t tell me anything? You won’t tell me what you’re doing here. You won’t tell me the use of the doll. You won’t tell me the deal with Chevy. Heck! You won’t even tell me your name! So, no! I don’t understand. So, you owe me an explanation right now” At that, she walked up to my face and said, “I don’t owe you anything!” At that, she and Chevy stormed out without looking back. I was having a mix of emotions; anger at what she just said, guilt because I wasn’t exactly easy to work with and I knew it and sadness that I just lost my first friend at this school. As if on time, Aunt Emily arrived to take me home which was perfect because I really wanted to just jump into my bed and scream into my pillow. When we got home, we talked over dinner like we always did. I told Aunt Emily about the outburst and how I should’ve just taken her advice. She comforted me with extra ice cream for dessert and told me that I had made a mistake but I could still fix it by taking her advice now. I hugged her and thanked her. I hate to admit it but my Aunt Emily and I were even closer than my parents and I. I got along perfectly with my parents but with Aunt Emily, it was like she could read my soul. I really appreciated it. Now, I’m going to bed to drown my sorrows. I’m even missing tonight’s episode of My Hero Academia. I’ll catch it up later.
Sunday,
September 24
Okay, so, today, I absolutely
needed a break. My plan for today was to curl up on my bed binge watching all
the Zendaya shows I have (That girl is my idol. She can sing, dance, act and
maybe even rap. Plus, she has no fear to show her real color and race. She’s a
total boss girl and I love her) while eating big bags of cheetos, chips and
nachos with lots of pizza and three big bottles of liquid chocolate to drown my
stress. I set everything up and was about to start when Aunt Emily came up and
this was our conversation;
AE: Rachel, you’ve been under a
whole lot of stress lately and you need a way to drown it.
Me: Way ahead of you, Aunt Emily
(Gestures at my preparations)
AE: Oh, that’s a good start, I
suppose but I also booked you a spa appointment because believe me, Honey, you
need it.
Me: Sure When is it?
AE: 3 o’clock.
Me: No problem. That’s plenty of
time to finish my screenings first.
AE: OK, see you afterwards.
I then got back to my screenings. I
binge watched Zapped, The Greatest Showman, Spider Man: Far From Home, Spider
Man: No Way Home and all episodes of Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover. Plus, I
dogged down all the food and it got all over me but I didn’t care. I was in
sweats anyway. It took me 6 hours to finish it all. So, it was around 1pm. I
still had 2 hours, so, I decided to kill the time by listening to The Kid LAROI
songs while eating hamburgers, hotdogs, tacos and burritos. When I was done, it
was 2pm. I decided to get ready. I brushed my teeth, took a bath and put on
fresh clothes: a blue and white Adidas sports outfit with black knee straps and
white converse. I put my hair up in a ponytail with some blue ribbon.
AE: How was your ‘Zendaya-thon’?
Me: It was nice. That girl’s
awesome.
AE: Zendaya’s something alright.
Me: Anyway, I have to get going to
that spa.
AE: Really? Don’t you wanna have
lunch first?
Me: No, thank you. I’m already
full.
AE: Too much junk food *chuckles*
Me: I’ll skip lunch. I’m leaving.
Text me the details. Bye.
AE: Okay. Bye, dear.
I left the house and went to the
spa. When I got there, I went to the front desk, “Hi. I’m here for my
appointment.” “Oh, what’s your name, please?” “Kathie Donzis” “Ah, yes, can you
just wait a few minutes, please?” “No problem” I went to the waiting area and
sat down on a chair. Sitting next to me was a lady that looked old enough to be
a mom. She had dyed her hair light green just like a whole lot of people around
here but I could see that her natural hair was apple-red like mine. She looked
down at me and this was the conversation;
Anonymous Lady: Hello, dear.
Me: Hi.
AL: My gosh, your hair is apple-red
just like mine. There aren’t many people like that around here.
Me: I’m from Florida.
AL: Ah, that explains it. What’s
your name, dear?
Me: Kathie Donzis.
AL: And how old are you?
Me: 12, Ma’am.
AL: Wow! You know I have a daughter
your age. She’s here in fact. Beth dear, come in here for a minute!
I was shocked as to who walked
through the door.
Beth: Mom, I told you to stop
calling me Beth. That’s an elementary school nickname.
Me: Lizzy?!
Lizzy: Kathie!
Lizzy’s Mom: Oh, you two know each
other?
Lizzy: We go to the same school.
Me: Yeah, we’re really good
friends. Also, Lizzy, I didn’t know your name was Beth.
Lizzy: Ugh! My full name’s
Elizabeth. But no one’s called me Beth since elementary school except my mom.
LM: Well, it’s not my fault my baby
girl is growing up so fast.
Me: Anyway. So, what are you doing
here?
Lizzy: Spa, you?
Me: Same.
Receptionist: Okay, Ms. Kathie, you
may go in now? Ms. Lizzy, you still need to be patient for about another 30
minutes.
Lizzy: But we’ve been here 30
minutes already.
R: I’m so sorry.
Me: Wait. Can Lizzy go into the spa
with me?
R: Like, sharing an appointment?
Me: Yeah
R: Well, I don’t see why not?
Me: Thank you.
Lizzy: Thanks. You saved me being
here an hour.
LM: Well, Beth, I’ll pick you up
later. Bye.
Lizzy: Mom!
LM: Bye.
Lizzy: Ugh!
Me: Let’s go.
Lizzy and I went to get our robes
then went into the spa. While we were getting massages, we said literally
nothing to each other. While we got our beauty treatments, we were in complete
silence. Finally, we had to go into the sauna which was the last part of the
spa treatment. We went into the sauna and as we got in, we just sat there
opposite each other saying nothing. Lizzy had her eyes closed and was soaking
in the water and I was just relaxing. After a while, things just felt awkward
so, I had to break the silence;
Me: Lizzy?
L: Hmm
Me: Did you notice that when we went
shopping yesterday, all the girls were overspending?
L: Yeah, they tend to do that
‘cause they’re rich.
Me: But they all did it except you,
how come?
L: Because I don’t see any point in
overspending. Besides, you didn’t overspend either.
Me: Lizzy, I can see that there’s a
deeper reason. Can you tell me what it is?
L: There’s no other reason.
Me: Okay?
L: Fine, but it doesn’t leave this
room, okay?
Me: Okay
L: However, you’re Rachel Donzis,
aren’t you?
Me: H-How did you figure it out?
L: My dad lives in Florida, he told
me all about the Donzises and I kind of figured it out
Me: Oh, you’re smart. And please
don’t tell anyone. I’m trying a new normal life
L: Of course not
Me: Thanks. Why does your dad live
in Florida if you don’t mind me asking?
L: He moved there after he and my
mom…separated…when I was 3
Me: OMG! I’m so sorry. I didn’t
mean to…
L: It’s not your fault . It was a long time ago.
Me: I kind of know how you feel. My
childhood hasn’t exactly been fun either. I spent my life running from
kidnappers.
L: How does that feel?
Me: Not good. Hey, we should
actually hang out more. We get along awesome and I need to get my mind off my
“friends”
L: What happened?
Me: They’re keeping secrets from me
and everyone just keeps telling me to give them some space but I hate
disrespect. It’s driving me nuts! I literally had a Zendaya-thon before I came
here to get my mind off it
L: Yeah, she’s awesome.
Me: I know right but…wait, you know
what a Zendaya-thon is?
L: Shh-yeah, I literally have Dove
Cameron-thons whenever I’m stressed. Disney stars are the best
Me: Yeah!
Time flew by talking to Lizzy. We
chatted, sympathized and even splashed. Before we knew it, our time was up. But
I’m meeting up with her again tomorrow for the entire school day. Lizzy’s
cooler than I thought. We might be best friends right now. But I gotta go, I
have to catch up on last night’s episode of My Hero Academia and watch
tonight’s episode. Till tomorrow.
Monday,
September 25
Today started off as a normal day.
I got up, brushed my teeth, showered and put on today’s outfit. My outfit was a
very dark blue leather crop top with a white band at the bottom hem and dark
blue fish net long sleeves with the matching dark blue leather flannel trousers
with holes for my thighs and lots of silver tassels. It also had a special
forehead jewelry and grey converse. I put my hair up in a ponytail. The outfit
was quite expensive:
I finished preparing, grabbed my
backpack and was just about to leave. “Aunt Emily, I’m leaving” “Wait, Rachel,
before you go.” I turned around to see Aunt Emily standing there with a small
golden and green cardboard box.
Me: What is it, Aunt Emily?
AE: Rachel, I know this first week
here hasn’t been easy and you’re going through a lot now. So, I got you something
(She walked over and handed me the
box and I just looked down staring at it)
AE: Please, open it
(I opened it to see a bracelet made
of dark green, round, crystal beads with a medium-sized amber droplet gem
hanging from the middle. Simply put, it was beautiful)
AE: It’s not much but I want you to
use it to remember that you are never alone here. I’ll always be here for you.
Your parents are here for you and soon, you’ll make good friends that will also
be there for you
Me: Thank you so much, Aunt Emily.
I love it
We hugged and I put it on before
leaving for school. I texted Lizzy on the way and she said she’d be waiting for
me in front of the school. I got to school and sure enough, there she was in
front of the school reading ‘Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean’. She closed the
book and looked up then smiled on seeing me.
L: Hey, Kathie
Me: Hey, Lizzy. Was that Vampirates
you were just reading?
L: Yeah, I just finished it. It’s a
really good book
Me: I know, I’ve read it but why
are you reading it?
L: Well, it was on our class’s
reading list
Me: True but it’s only the second
week. Do you think they’ll quiz us on it yet?
L: Probably not but you can never
be too prepared
Me: Exactly, someone who gets me
(We were now walking through the
corridor to our first class, modern literature)
L: Anyway, who was your favorite
character?
Me: Lorcan, no doubt about it. He’s
so charming with that accent and his looks and he’s super kind and brave. I
love that. I was so sad when he got blind at the end.
L: Yeah, that was too bad. Well,
mine was the Vampirate captain. He’s so calm and collected but still
commanding. He’s also really nice though mysterious and all so in control. It’s
awesome. Okay, who was your worst character?
Me: Hmm… that’d have to be Lachlan
Busby. I mean, he was running the twins down even in their most vulnerable
moments and still tried to adopt them while sugarcoating all his real threats.
He’s despicable.
L: Mine was definitely Sidorio.
He’s so disgusting and heartless. He sucked all the blood out of his donor then
just threw him overboard. He barely even respects the captain. He’s a brute.
We kept talking about Vampirates as
we went to class. Then, when we got to class, we were in for a surprise. We sat
in class and I saw Cafeteria Girl sitting a few chairs away. I was so mad at
her but I looked at my bracelet and decided to just ignore her. Then, our Mod.
Lit. teacher, Ms. Christina started talking.
MC: Alright , class. Today, we’re
starting with a pop quiz on the book, Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean. Has
anyone read it?
(Lizzy and I raised our hands)
MC: Excellent.
Random Kid: But, how were we
supposed to know to read the book?
MC: It was on your reading list
RK: But, this is only the second
week
MC: This goes to show that you
should always be prepared. Now, start your test.
The test was a cinch. Though, the
questions were more critical, so, I’m sorry if you didn’t read the book. Let me
show you the questions I can remember:
Which Do
You Prefer?
o Grace or
Connor, state your reasons
o Lorcan or
Cheng Li, state your reasons
o Captain
Mulluco Wrathe or the Vampirate Captain, state your reasons
o Bart or
Darcy, state your reasons
o Who was
your favorite character and why?
o Who was
your least favorite character and why?
o Write down
the Vampirates shanty
Those are the questions I remember.
Lizzy and I left the class looking like we just won lotteries. We spent the
rest of the day; a) avoiding the other girls and b) avoiding Cafeteria Girl and
Chevy which meant going out for lunch. Today was awesome and Lizzy and I talked
about fashion a lot and she admired my bracelet. We also found out that we both
love art and robotics. This friendship is so cool. Well, I gotta go. My Hero
Academia’s on and I can’t miss it. Bye.
Tuesday, September 26
I woke up to the sound of my phone
constantly beeping signaling I got a text. I groaned as I stood up to check my
hone. This was what I saw;
Glam Girls
Group Chat
Beatrice
Kathie, Lizzy, where were you both
yesterday?!
Kyla
Yeah, we
didn’t see you guys even once
Eleanora
Are you both avoiding us?
Kathie
No, we’re
not avoiding you guys
Lizzy
We didn’t even know you thought
that
Kathie
Sorry if we
upset you
Emily
Well, today, there will be no
ignoring
Emily
We’ll meet up at my locker this
morning so we spend the day together
Beatrice
Perfect
idea
Lizzy
Of course, it’ll be great
Kathie
I’ll
definitely be there
Kyla
Then, I’ll see y’all at school
Ugh! Now, I have to spend the whole
day with them. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I don’t like them. They’re
really sweet and stand up for their friends and all. But their approach to
different situations can be so annoying at times. The only ones in the group
with common sense are Lizzy and I.
I sighed as I pulled myself off the
bed. I prepared for the day as usual before dressing up. I wore a plain
oversized white T-shirt and dark blue elastic skin tight shorts with shorter
denim shorts over it. I also wore a matching oversized denim jacket and white
socks with black lines at the top, matched with white converse. I completed the
look with a silver choker and a white & blue cap. I put my hair in a low
ponytail and swung it over my left shoulder. It looked pretty nice:
On my way downstairs, I slipped on
the green bracelet Aunt Emily had given me. On getting to the bottom of the
stairs, Aunt Emily called me for breakfast. I sat and ate my pancakes while she
cleaned up in the kitchen. We made some small talk in the process until I was
done eating. I washed my plate before hugging Aunt Emily and leaving for
school. It was gonna be one heck of a day.
I got to school and walked through
the doors and proceeded to walk to Emily’s locker. As I walked, I heard a
familiar voice, “Kathie! Kathie, wait!” It was Cafeteria Girl. I decided to
ignore her and continue walking but she ran up to me and stood in my way. She
looked remorseful as she stood there. “Kathie, you were right”, she began. “I
always am”, I replied with false enthusiasm as I tried to make my way around
her but she blocked me. “Look, it was wrong of us, of me to shove you out like
that even though you were the first person to talk to me in this school”, she
continued. I rolled my eyes and swerved around her beginning to leave. “Kathie,
please, listen…”, she began but I cut her off. “Listen?! Listen? Why should I
listen to you? I gave you a chance to speak to me but you didn’t. And now, you
come here asking me to listen!”, I thundered. “Kathie, I’m sorry…”, she tried
to speak but I interrupted her again. “Apology not accepted!”, I boomed turning
around and storming out.
I didn’t even look back as I just
made my way to Emily’s locker. As I arrived at my destination, I saw the other
girls there. “Kathie, there you are”, Eleanora said. “What took you so long?”,
Lizzy asked. “I ran into a pest but it’s taken care of”, I answered vaguely.
“Well, then, let’s head to class”, Kyla said. We all nodded and walked off to
class.
On the way to class, I saw Lizzy
was looking at me worriedly. I’d have to clear this up with her soon before she
thinks it something really bad. We got into class and sat down around a bunch
of lockers. Lizzy and I sat next to each other. The other girls soon zoned out
talking about some movie that was coming out and how the actor was so hot. I
seized this chance to talk to Lizzy.
“You okay?”, said girl asked me.
“Yeah, I just ran into one of my old friends”, I answered. “The ones who kept
secrets from you?” “Those are the ones”, I answered. “What was she talking about?”
“She was apparently trying to apologize”, I said. “Did you two make up?”, she
asked hopefully but cautiously.
I let out a small laugh before
answering, “As if. I gave them the chance to talk and they didn’t take it. Now,
I don’t wanna hear it anymore. They gotta deal with that”, I answered. “I
totally get it but maybe, you should actually listen. Then, based on their
explanation, you can judge on if you want to forgive them or not”, she advised.
I thought about it for a while
before finally responding, “Fine. But if it’s a whack reason, don’t expect me
to forgive” She just giggled and we both turned to see what the other girls
were on about. “No way, Joshua Bassett is way hotter than Tom Holland”, I
chimed into the argument. “Umm, agree to disagree”, Beatrice stated.
Later, at lunch, I decided to talk
to CG. I wanted to know the reason but I didn’t want it to be like I had
ignored her and then come crawling back, so, I attached a few conditions.
“Hello Chevy”, I coldly stated
approaching him and Cafeteria Girl at the cafeteria. He didn’t respond but he
seemed nervous. I turned to CG. “You wanna make things better, right?”, I asked
going straight to the point. She enthusiastically nodded. She must feel really
bad. “Then, fine. I’ll give you a chance to explain”, I said.
She opened her mouth to start
speaking but I raised my hand in front of her face to stop her. “Nu-uh-uh, I’ll
give you a chance on Friday, what’s-your-name?”, I said but she took it as a
question. “Oh, sorry for not telling you, it’s Isabella”, she said rubbing the
back of her neck. I gave her a look that said ‘Oh-now-you’re-telling-me’.
I just shook my head then, folded
my arms and said, “If you fail to convince me on Friday, consider that the
end”. I finished and walked away with my tray of food in hand back to the table
with the girls. I may have come off as a snotty rich kid but that’s the monster
they made.
I spent the rest of the day with
the girls and when I got home, I decided to have a karaoke night with Aunt
Emily. She could barely sing most of the songs but we both sang Queen of Mean
by Sarah Jeffery really well.
That was my day. So, on Friday, I
will have to listen to the verdict of Cafet-, I mean Isabella and Chevy. *Sigh*
Oh well, My Hero Academia’s on. Gotta go. Bye.
-Rose :)
